Why Avatar is the 26th biggest movie of all time

When counting the number of actual tickets sold, versus ticket gross (which is misleading due to the inflation of ticket prices) you find a very different blockbuster list than is usually touted by Hollywood. The only recent movie that even makes the top 10 is "Titanic" (1997) followed by "E.T." in 1982 -- illustrating the steep decline in theater-going and the rise of rental and movie purchasing.

  1. "Gone With the Wind" (1939) 202,044,600
  2. "Star Wars" (1977) 178,119,600
  3. "The Sound of Music" (1965) 142,415,400
  4. "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial" (1982) 141,854,300
  5. "The Ten Commandments" (1956) 131,000,000
  6. "Titanic" (1997) 128,345,900
  7. "Jaws" (1975) 128,078,800
  8. "Doctor Zhivago" (1965) 124,135,500
  9. "The Exorcist" (1973) 110,568,700
  10. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937) 109,000,000

Tour In-Ear Headphones

Last night I caught a showing of the post-apocalyptic flick Book of Eli with my friend Jeff. One of the most important aspects in the movie, y'know, aside from the power of the Bible and the human will to survive, were the sweet ear-buds Denzel sported. Tour High Resolution In-Ear Headphones (by Dr. Dre?) will set you back a cool $180, or in Eli's case probably the world's last bottle of shampoo and some fresh cat oil.

Sherlock Holmes Studio Logos by Prologue

Wonderful Sherlock Holmes credits by Prologue. The main titles and end titles (all available via their site) are also fantastic, but the logos particularly struck me as I settled into the film yesterday.
